Some are old enough to remember when cigarettes often came with safety labels that made them seem healthy to the public. There was the infamous “More Doctors Smoke Camels Than Any Other Cigarette” ads. Sometimes they’d use fancy words in foreign languages to make people think their cigarettes were safe, such as “The wisdom behind the du Maurier Filter.” Then, there’s the Lucky Strike slogan made famous by the television show Mad Men: “It’s toasted.”
No one has seen the data behind Tyson’s “climate friendly beef” claim
Millions of taxpayer dollars flow to livestock companies raising “low carbon” beef.
In 1965, cigarette companies were forced though regulations to ad warning labels to their killer products. We’re seeing today’s USDA doing the opposite in the beef industry. Instead of warning people about health dangers, they’re taking products that pose health dangers and slapping a new “Climate Friendly Beef” label on them.
What does it take for mega-food companies like Tyson Foods or McDonald’s to slap such a government-approved label on their beef? Apparently, nobody outside of the 3rd-party vendors working for the bureaucracy know for sure and they’re not revealing their standards. Moreover, the USDA is refusing to reveal what’s being done to the cattle or the land in order to fulfill the requirements to receive the “Climate Friendly Beef” label, demanding instead for inquiring minds to file a Freedom of Information Act request.
Climate-Friendly’ Meat Is a Myth
With climate change activists painting real beef as the ultimate villain advancing global warming and people like Bill Gates cashing in on the phenomenon by offering to genetically modify cattle so they’ll be more climate-friendly, the lack of transparency for “Climate Friendly Beef” is terrifying.
“There are two groups of people I generally don’t trust: Those in the bureaucracy and those at shady organizations working on behalf of the bureaucracy,” said JD Rucker, CEO of Prepper All-Naturals. “In the case of ‘Climate Friendly Beef’ we have both of these groups favoring mega-corps and their low-quality beef imports over all-American ranchers and farmers.”
Cooking the books: The magical math of ‘climate-friendly’ meat
Whatever they’re doing to the cattle and the land to earn them the label is such a mystery that even climate change activists are demanding answers.
Note: Prepper All-Naturals survival beef comes from cattle born and raised in Texas. Their cows have not been genetically modified. Their Ribeye, NY Strip, Tenderloin, and Sirloin have a 25-year shelf life and are currently on sale at 25% off with promo code “JDR”.
“USDA should have a transparent methodology that’s applicable to everyone—the outsourcing, the monitoring, the verification—for all these groups that have incentives to make things look better than they are,” said Silvia Secchi, a natural resource economist at the University of Iowa. “There’s no transparency.”
Even if the “Climate Friendly Beef” requirements do not entail genetic modification or unhealthy dietary changes, it’s suspicious that they employ arbitrary labeling standards without divulging their methods. Moreover, these trends toward modifying cattle for the sake of the environment and doing so without telling consumers how it’s being done have prompted many Americans to stock up on long-term storage food.
“I always warn people that they need to buy from local ranchers and farmers they can trust,” Rucker said. “We do, which is why I’ll know if I’m opening a bag of NY Strip for my family to eat in 2030 that it’s not going to have any of the abominations being done to so much of our food supply today.
“Unfortunately, it’s only going to get worse if we don’t stop the powers-that-be in their tracks immediately.”
